Once you become an adult and get all caught up in life, responsibility, commitment to job and family … childhood dreams tend to fade away with the passing of time.

Not true for 34 year old, Angela Evans.  It was those sugar & spice fantasies that kept her going and gave her hope enough to survive the tumultuous events that consumed most of her growing up years and young adulthood.

“From the time I was 13, I wanted to be a writer and filled countless tablets with short stories and poems.  It was my escape from the hurt and fear I had to face on a daily basis.  When I won second place in a poetry contest my junior year, the elation I felt was like no other.”  Angela proclaimed.

Any one will tell you the best writers are those who’ve been there, done that and can incorporate every personal incident good, or bad, into their story lines and characters.  Angela knows all about life’s ups and downs.  Her father was a transient figurehead … out of her life more than in which made it difficult for her mom to make ends meet.  Angela didn’t think twice about pitching in when she was old enough and held down a waitress job working 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. every day and then off to school and hour later.  Needing to pay the bills won out over graduating from school and she soon dropped out.  However, that never held her back and she managed to acquire her GED and later graduated with an Associates Degree in Office Technology.

“I couldn’t tell you how many submissions I made to publishers,” Angela reflected.  “No one cared about a writer who didn’t have an agent representing them.  But, I wouldn’t give up, didn’t stop writing or, looking for a publisher who would give writers like me a chance.”

Angela had many reasons to give up because life didn’t get any easier for a long while.  A five year marriage was enduring an abusive husband who was not supportive of her dream.  He didn’t think twice about tearing up her manuscripts, humiliating her and constantly chastising her because too much attention was placed on her writing and not on him.  With the support of friends and family she grew strong enough to walk away and start a new life … finally placing herself and her happiness first and foremost.

With a new husband now in her life and being step-mom to three awesome sons, Angela is surrounded by more positive energy … love, happiness and a nurturing support that makes her want to soar like an eagle.  And soaring she is right now.  We at The Girlz Korner wish her well and are extremely honored to be the first to showcase her first published novel, The Love Thief.

This is my kind of web site. Thank you for commiting your dream to the internet and for giving us a forum to share womens points of view, wisdom and lifes experiences. There is nothing more important than girlfriends. These special friendships need to be nurtured, even when we don't have time. Make the time! I invite my girlfriends up to the mountain cabin for the weekend. We eat great food (only great cooks are invited), we stay in our pj's and watch 'chick flicks'. It's like being in Jr. High again. It's a weekend full of laughs, nurturing, encouraging and listening. Make time for your girlfriends ladies. They will always be there for you!
